DAKAR 2015: Rest for some, for others Marathon.
Yesterday was a day of rest for trucks and cars, in Iquique, Chile.
After a difficult weekend with altitude on Saturday and the Salar de Uyuni (salt lake) on Sunday and the weather, this day has allowed the pilots to regain strength and at mechanical to be maintained.
Regarding the truck 2 large Teams (DE ROOY and ASTANA BONVER) equipped with Donerre last 2 steps have still not allowed to impose on the podium.
Indeed for the Team DE ROOY the trucks are positioned at the 6th (504 truck driven by Hans Stacey), 10 th (509 truck driven by Pep Vila Roca) and 14th (501 truck driven by Gerard De Rooy) place.
As for those of Team ASTANA BONVER they are found at 13th (truck 517 driven by Thomas Vratny), 20th (truck 539 driven by Jan Szustkowski Robert) and 25th (515 truck driven by Artur Ardavichus) place.
There are still 4 stages truck before heading to Buenos Aires in Argentina and finish off 8159kms of this Dakar 2015. The drivers are well aware that nothing is decided until the last step.
For the motorcycles and quads yesterday was not a day of rest, but one day marathon (no external assistance between special, only the drivers are allowed to work on the bikes / quads), a difficult test that requires handle carefully the mechanicals to reach the end.
The KTM equipped with WP suspension are imposed in the Top3 the standings, Spaniard Marc Coma (2014 Dakar winner) took 1st place and the Chilean Pablo Quintanilla got the third after a marathon race that he won remarkably.
Drivers play elbow to elbow to delight the place of leader Marc Coma, who firmly taken the lead of the rally and becomes favorite has its own estate.
